New Two Book Contract

I’m thrilled to be able to share that I’ve now signed another two-book contract with HarperCollins imprint, One More Chapter with the brilliant Charlotte Ledger! This contract is for the two books I spoke about in the One More Chapter Book Club Facebook Live, An Island At War and Mrs Boots Goes To War.

An Island At War is a standalone and set during The Occupation of Jersey, where I’m from. It’s the stories of two sisters, the younger one who is evacuated but it’s mostly Estelle’s story. Estelle is the oldest sister and her father insists she stays behind in Jersey to help run their family farm just before the island is invaded by the Nazis. The Channel Islands were the only part of the British Isles to be occupied by the German forces in World War Two. Jersey was occupied for five years from 1 July 1940 – 9 May 1945.

The second book in my new contract is Mrs Boots Goes To War. This is the third book in my Mrs Boots series inspired by Jersey woman, Florence Boot (nee Rowe) a shop assistant at her father’s stationers at 27 Queen Street who married Jesse Boot, the man behind Boots the Chemist. Florence was determined to be much more than just a chemist’s wife and worked tirelessly to help her husband build the Boots empire, while bringing up her children and helping women realise that they could be more than what tradition expected of them.
