We rarely share our disappointments and rejections, and believe me, I’ve had many. However, they do say that a published author is one that perseveres and on that note, I’m delighted to have signed a second contract with HarperCollins’ romance imprint, HarperImpulse to write two further historical novels.
I thoroughly enjoyed working with the brilliant HarperImpulse team for The Poppy Field. I’ve realised my dream, not only to be published by HarperCollins, but also for my book to be translated into another language – The Poppy Field will be sold in book shops in Holland from October. I’ve also had the joy of seeing my book rise up the Amazon US charts and reaching the Top 100 in the US charts and being awarded a coveted orange bestseller flag in the Historical British Fiction and Historical European 20th Century Fiction Amazon US charts.
I’ve taken a research trip with the wonderful Claire Fenby from HarperImpulse and now I’m writing the first book. This book will be published early in 2020 and the second one later in the year.
I’m hugely grateful to Charlotte Ledger, Editorial Director of HarperImpulse, Harper Fiction for thinking of me when she was deciding who she wanted to ask to write these books.
This is also the first book deal that I’ve signed since being represented by my agent, Kate Nash of the Kate Nash Literary Agency. What a year so far!
