My ambition was to be a full-time writer at 40.
Today – 19th September 2019 – was my last day in the ‘day job’. I’m 58. (I never thought twenty years ago that I would admit my age. How things change).
It has taken me longer than I had hoped to realize this dream, but I got there in the end.
Sometimes it was hard to imagine that I would ever be able to give up my day job, but now I’ve put my children through school and university and am very lucky to be published with two amazing publishers, One More Chapter (HarperCollins) and soon with HarperCollins Holland for The Poppy Field, as well as with Hera Books for My Last Lie and The Darkest Summer.
I will have news to share very soon… but for now I’d better just press on with the first draft of my next book as I have a looming deadline that I need to meet.
Dreams do come true, it seems.
