About Me

Author

Deborah Carr on St Ouen's beach

I write historical novels that give a voice to ordinary people who found themselves in extraordinary times.

Most of my books have a connection to Jersey, including The Witching Hour, my next book out on 23 October 2025. The Channel Islands was the only part of the British Isles occupied by Nazi forces during WW2. Neighbours at War and An Island At War (the USA Today Bestseller) are both set during those dark days in the island’s history from 1 July 1940 until liberation on 9th May 1945.

The Poppy Sisters was an Amazon First Reads Editor’s Pick in 2023, a highlight of my writing career and also an Aldi UK Special Pick.

Other books of mine are Broken Faces, The Beekeeper’s War and the Mrs Boots series inspired by the life of Jersey woman Florence Boot, the woman behind the Boots empire. The Booklover’s Library, The Booklover’s Letters and The Bookseller’s Daughter.

I also write contemporary romance series as Georgina Troy and psychological mysteries written as Ella Drummond.
